‘Whatcha’ Looking For?

“…Whenever you seek him, you will find him…”  2 Chronicles 15:2

My goodness, if I didn’t write another word this morning, that small portion of that verse would be clearly enough!  The question is, “Do we want to find Him?”  Sometimes, I think that we are afraid that we will…find Him.  I understand.  Finding Him may mean that we have to give up something, or give in to something, that we don’t want to…either way.  The reality of that it is a bit of an oxymoron.  We may give up and give in, but we gain in ways we wouldn’t have been able to understand prior.  It reminds me of this…

Steve and I made an agreement several years ago that if one of us feels “checked” about something, the other is supposed to listen.  By that I mean that, for one of us, there is not a peace about the decision we are about to make, or the step we are about to take.  So in case perhaps, one of us is too fearful, or too excited, or too whatever to hear clearly, we need to heed the other one’s feeling of lack of peace in making a wise decision.  Trust me, we learned the hard way first.  I have shared that in those cases (if you feel that way), “God is either protecting you from something, or He has something better for you.”

I said all of that to say this…when we give up (or give in), we may feel like there will be a loss, but in reality, when we trust God (who knows best), we gain peace at the minimum, but who knows what else we may gain in the process?! God does.

Seeking Him is a privilege that is hard to fathom.  Finding Him when we seek Him is unimaginable to our human minds.  But…He has made a way through sending His son Jesus Christ to die for our sins…a way that allows present-day us to seek Him and find Him just as He did for the Israelites in the Old Testament.

“Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you…”
‭‭James‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4‬:‭16‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I invite you to seek Him right where you are.  Maybe you are already following Jesus as your Savior but haven’t really sought to find Him in your day-to-day living.  Maybe you haven’t ask Jesus into your heart and to forgive you of your sins yet.  I invite you to do just that.  Seek Him.  Then, continue to seek Him.  What—and WHO—you find when you seek Him with all of your heart is worth the time and effort you put into seeking…and definitely worth celebrating!

“All in Judah were happy about this covenant, for they had entered into it with all their heart. They earnestly sought after God, and they found him. And the Lord gave them rest from their enemies on every side.”
‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭15‬:‭15‬ ‭NLT‬‬
