Imperfectly Perfect

There are times in life when things aren’t as we hoped. There are times when we want things to go perfectly, but they don’t. There are times when we want things to be a certain way— our way; but in hindsight, we see that those times ended up being so good that we really wouldn’t change a thing.

One day a while back Steve said something that has stuck with me…almost feels like a bit of a turning point on perfectionism because, you see, I’ve noticed that sometimes, things are simply imperfectly perfect!

I had painted my fingernails, and as much as I would like them to be perfect, they pretty much never are the idea of perfect that I have— or have seen on other people. We were driving in the car, and I don’t remember if I showed Steve or he was just looking at them; but it was pointed out (probably by me) about the job I do painting them. Basically, it boiled down to, he likes the way I do them because that is just me. I may have some paint around my nails; or maybe, I didn’t sit still long enough afterward and nicked them before they dried, but it didn’t matter— they were imperfectly perfect.

You see, I could sit around focusing on those flaws and things that aren’t perfect, whether with my house, my spouse, myself— or my fingernails! Or, I can take a second look at the beauty in the imperfectly perfect— the excellent!!

Accepting the imperfectly perfect with Jesus in your heart; and recognizing the perfect gifts [with a thankful heart] that only He can give, such as…
Life
Breath
Sight
Hearing
Family
Friends
Church
Freedom
Mobility
Shelter
Clothing
Food
The ability to read…
His Word, the Bible
…brings about a contentment that is practically unexplainable!

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”

The good gifts, the perfect gifts, the godliness, the contentment, all come from our Heavenly Father who loves us enough to allow us to choose…the perfect sacrifice that makes us imperfectly perfect— Jesus.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.”
‭‭John‬ ‭3:16-21‬ ‭KJV‬‬
