Chapter 3: What Are YOU Finished With?

“…let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,” (Hebrews 12:1 KJV)

Jesus said, “For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:30) More often than we realize, I think, when we are carrying around a heavy load, we have brought it on ourselves; or, Jesus has offered to help, and we are like, “Oh, no, this is MY burden.”  Why do we take pleasure in being miserable?  Jesus came that we may have life more abundantly.  Let’s begin to accept that.

I think I used to think if I didn’t have a burden on me, or wasn’t worried about something, then something wasn’t right spiritually!  If I was happy, something must be wrong!  I must not be denying myself!  Or, maybe, if I weren’t worrying, I wasn’t caring enough.  Now, I know, I may be a little unusual, but I bet there are some of you who can identify with this if you really think about it.  My mom used to say that she didn’t think I was happy unless I was miserable.

Let’s look at a few things that we just accept as part of our lives.  When just maybe, perhaps, you (as I have) just might need to be finished with it and living a more abundant life.
