Photo Blogger

After looking over some possibilities in changing up my blog a bit this new year, I decided that I definitely identify myself as a “Photo Blogger.” Not sure if I had really thought about it in this manner before, but after thinking of the way I love adding a photo to each post, it definitely fits!

To say that I have enjoyed taking photos for a while would be an understatement!  I don’t remember exactly what age, but I have no doubt that my mom got me into capturing those precious moments since childhood!  In high school, I had the privilege of being the photographer for the school newspaper and enjoyed a trip to Indianapolis with the band to get pictures and write a story. (Go figure!) As an adult, Mom and I had a couple of projects that involved our picture-taking ‘skills’.  Whether “skilled” or not, I can’t seem to break away from it– and really have no desire to!!  The challenge is organizing the photos and putting them to good use.

I enjoy photography as art– narrowing in or capturing a view that might be easily bypassed if we didn’t take a second to slow down and look closely.

I enjoy capturing a moment to celebrate as a memory…especially a smile or a face full of genuine laughter; or friends and family ties that truly bind us together.

I enjoy pictures as preservatives of things of old…things or operations that likely have changed over time and  can only be reflected on and passed down as a, “Let me tell you about…” kind of story.

In the past, I’ve shied away from posting a photo for the simple fact or pleasure of posting a photo on this blog. I wanted a purpose behind the pic posted. I’ve decided to expand my page to allow myself the freedom to post photos for the simple purpose of celebrating the moment captured.

The photos you see here may or may not have a caption or a word written about them. They may just have a title or a place named. They may simply hold a date with no words needed.

I hope you will enjoy this expanded venture (along with a few small changes to the look of my blog– I’m EX-citED!!!), and whether there’s a story, a caption, or “silence” behind the photo, you’ll take a minute and celebrate the moment captured along with me.
